Who’s Watching You?

Over the last few days, I have been doing a plyometric workout video.  It is a simple video, it lasts 33 minutes and it is as hard as you make it.  I will blog about it later, but I wanted to tell you about something that happened during the workout.

In the middle of the ab portion, I relaxed down on the floor.  My abs were burning and I thought I couldn’t go on.  I was in my bedroom.  I thought I was alone.  I hadn’t noticed John David standing in the hall watching.  When I stopped to rest, John David yelled: “Mommy! Don’t stop! You can do it!”

It kind of startled me, but I knew I had to keep going.  He came in the bedroom with me and mimicked my moves for the rest of the video.

I suppose the boys watch me more than I realize.  That kind of scares me and makes me happy at the same time.  I hope I am a good example for them.  I don’t want them to grow up and just think Mommy wanted to be skinny.  I want them to remember that their Mommy doesn’t give up.  When their life gets hard, I want them to keep going and not give up.  I want them to grow up and find a wife that doesn’t give up.  My Mom was such an awesome example for me and a lot of the time, I don’t feel like I will ever measure up to her.  Ok, my Mom wasn’t perfect, but she was perfect for me.  All that being said, I never want the boys to watch me quit something just because I am tired or not mentally strong enough.

John David, you’re right.  Mommy can do it.  Mommy can do anything she puts her mind to.  Thank you for reminding me.

In other random John David cuteness, he calls almonds, crumbs.  It took me forever to figure out what he was wanting for a snack today!

John David’s First Fish

Aaron took John David down to the big pond to go fishing. Aaron said it was time he caught his first fish.20130409-204059.jpg

We stocked this pond two years ago, so it was also nice to see how the fish are coming along. I had to dig a little, but I found Evan’s  first fish picture also:

I have cute kids.

Halloween 2012

Bismarck is a very rural area and this makes it very hard to trick or treat.  This year the churches and businesses started a new tradition.  The post office, First Baptist Church, First Methodist Church, the bank, and the elementary school held separate trunk or treats.  The kids got to experience walking from place to place and getting candy like you big city folk do.

I was so proud.  All the kids were running around and it was so safe.  Everyone knows each other and we all kind of collectively watch the kids, so they think it is a blast.  I love living in a small town.

Here is Darth Vadar and Spiderman:

And of course we had to get a photo with our fire truck:

Even though we only went those places the boys racked up on some serious candy.  They were excited that no one was giving out cheap candy, lol.

Happy Birthday John David!

Well, our baby is three today.  These three years have flown by.  I must say, John David was an ugly baby, and I included one of the ugly duckling photos, but he is sooooo cute now.  He now looks like a Precious Moments baby.  Since I have been so collage happy lately, I made a collage of his first three years.  Enjoy:

Happy Birthday Bat Bat Booza!

The Greatest Show on Earth

Greatest Show on Earth

Yeah right…  This was the first time for the boys and me, and I am happy to know I haven’t been missing anything.  Some parts were good, but overall it could have been an hour shorter.  I was satisfied with the experience at intermission.

I thought there were going to be clowns?  There was only one! I wanted a whole squad of the wild things running about with little cars and honking noses.  I also wanted to see a midget.  No midgets.  Shame.

There were weird camels. I love camels by the way, but these were weird looking.

There were three elephants. They did not go crazy.

John David did not like the only clown. He is holding on for dear life.

John David didn’t want to sit on the motorcycle either.

Waiting on the show to start.

John David is being a cheese head.

The awesome $18 sword that lights up and vibrates. Yes, we had to get two. smh

The weird camel, horse, and mini horse show.

The boys are bored.

Elephants don’t really do all that much. Stand up, roll over, run in circles. Awesome.

If I would have been thinking ahead, I would have brought my driver’s license in with me.  I think the show would have been a lot better after a few beers…

Intro to Geography {iPad App Review}

I am always trying to find good ways to teach boring stuff to my kids.  I’m sorry, but georgraphy is pretty boring.  It is basically just mindless memorization.  I hate that, I want learning to be super fabulous and exciting, so my kids will always be eager for knowledge.

Personally, I love geography and I think it is very, very important.  The world is becoming so small since we are all connected by the interwebs.  We need to know where places are actually physically located on Earth.  I don’t want my kids to think we are just floating around in magical internet space.

Anyway, I found the Intro to Georgraphy app on iTunes.  This game teaches all the countries of North America, even those little ones in Central America, and only costs $1.99.  I was surprised to find out I had a few of the little boogers mixed up, so we all learned a little.

I originally purchased the app for Evan (5) because it is his iPad, but John David (2.5) was able to play the game too.  I was trilled when he started learning the countries!  Here is a video of John David playing, he doesn’t care that it is upside down, lol.

I love the app and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is a big nerd and wants their kids to be big nerds too!

Hooked on Fishin, Not on Drugs

In 1986, a 14 year old started a program with the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission called Hooked on Fishing, Not on Drugs.

I was in kindergarten that year and Aaron was in first grade.  It was all the rage, and both of us being from outdoorsy families, we got hooked on fishing.  Well, last Saturday (after the 5k) Aaron test drove a duck boat and decided we needed the sweet little thing:
The smaller boat is actually perfect for quick trips around this end of the lake, so we took it out for an hour or so this afternoon.
John David is a trill seeker and loves boat rides.
Evan just wants to be like his Daddy.
I mean, the program worked for my husband and I so, when the boys get older and someone offers them some crack, I want them to say, “Nah, lets go fishing.”

Christmas Shopping

>Wow, I went shopping with my Mommy, Cassie, and her friend Megan.

We went to Mardel’s and Cassie bought her Dad a Bible with his name on it (with her own money).  I was so proud of her.

Then we went to eat! I talked my Mom into taking us to PF Changs! It was so good and I took this picture of Cassie and Megan while we were waiting on our table.

We went to the mall and I found some really awesome sale clothes for the boys at Gap.  I was proud of myself for that.

What a boring post. Oh well, this is my life :)
