Another Year of T Ball is Over

I’m not saying I didn’t love t ball this year, but I am sure glad it is over!  This was Evan’s second year of t ball and he had a lot of fun.  Here are a few pictures from the party.20130604-193346.jpg

End of the Week Review

I figured it would be easier to give a wrap up post for the week than bore you with all the little details.

Evan lost his first tooth! He has been wiggling it for two weeks and finally let me pull it.  I came right out with barely any resistance and didn’t even bleed.

Evan also had his first t ball game of the year.  He hit the ball on the first pitch.  I was proud.

Evan is the tallest on the back row.

Saturday morning I had to participate in an ecology field trip, then I had a very discouraging 5.5 mile trail run, but I ended the day at the lake relaxing…

Oh, and look at all the nasty pollen in the buck brush! I cannot wait until it rains hard and cleans all of this mess up!20130414-101439.jpg

Halloween 2012

Bismarck is a very rural area and this makes it very hard to trick or treat.  This year the churches and businesses started a new tradition.  The post office, First Baptist Church, First Methodist Church, the bank, and the elementary school held separate trunk or treats.  The kids got to experience walking from place to place and getting candy like you big city folk do.

I was so proud.  All the kids were running around and it was so safe.  Everyone knows each other and we all kind of collectively watch the kids, so they think it is a blast.  I love living in a small town.

Here is Darth Vadar and Spiderman:

And of course we had to get a photo with our fire truck:

Even though we only went those places the boys racked up on some serious candy.  They were excited that no one was giving out cheap candy, lol.

Obligatory First Day of School Post

We made it though the first two mornings of the school year with no whining, complaining, crying, or yelling. Success.

I am so proud of Evan.  He started the first grade like a champ.  We met his teacher at open house and we have been blessed with another good one.  She has a science background (yippee) and she isn’t afraid to challenge the kids.  Evan said she was “really nice” and he “really liked” her when I picked him up yesterday.  He is such a good kid.

My first two days also went good.  I am so happy I decided to take it easy this semester.  I am only taking Organic Chemistry 1, Cell Biology, and Biogeography.  Biogeography meets on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 8, so it is kind of tricky getting Evan and John David dropped off and to Arkadelphia by class time, but this morning I made it with 2 minutes to spare. Hopefully I won’t be stressed to the max trying to be a Wife, Mom, runner, and student with this lighter load.

The Greatest Show on Earth

Greatest Show on Earth

Yeah right…  This was the first time for the boys and me, and I am happy to know I haven’t been missing anything.  Some parts were good, but overall it could have been an hour shorter.  I was satisfied with the experience at intermission.

I thought there were going to be clowns?  There was only one! I wanted a whole squad of the wild things running about with little cars and honking noses.  I also wanted to see a midget.  No midgets.  Shame.

There were weird camels. I love camels by the way, but these were weird looking.

There were three elephants. They did not go crazy.

20120727-110459.jpg

John David did not like the only clown. He is holding on for dear life.

John David didn’t want to sit on the motorcycle either.

Waiting on the show to start.

John David is being a cheese head.

The awesome $18 sword that lights up and vibrates. Yes, we had to get two. smh

The weird camel, horse, and mini horse show.

20120727-110539.jpg

The boys are bored.

Elephants don’t really do all that much. Stand up, roll over, run in circles. Awesome.

If I would have been thinking ahead, I would have brought my driver’s license in with me.  I think the show would have been a lot better after a few beers…

Intro to Geography {iPad App Review}

I am always trying to find good ways to teach boring stuff to my kids.  I’m sorry, but georgraphy is pretty boring.  It is basically just mindless memorization.  I hate that, I want learning to be super fabulous and exciting, so my kids will always be eager for knowledge.

Personally, I love geography and I think it is very, very important.  The world is becoming so small since we are all connected by the interwebs.  We need to know where places are actually physically located on Earth.  I don’t want my kids to think we are just floating around in magical internet space.

Anyway, I found the Intro to Georgraphy app on iTunes.  This game teaches all the countries of North America, even those little ones in Central America, and only costs $1.99.  I was surprised to find out I had a few of the little boogers mixed up, so we all learned a little.

I originally purchased the app for Evan (5) because it is his iPad, but John David (2.5) was able to play the game too.  I was trilled when he started learning the countries!  Here is a video of John David playing, he doesn’t care that it is upside down, lol.

I love the app and I would highly recommend it to anyone who is a big nerd and wants their kids to be big nerds too!

First T Ball Game!

>Evan’s very first t ball game was tonight!  I was so proud.

When he was at bat, he actually hit the ball when it was pitched to him!

I know this sounds bad, but I didn’t want him to have to use the t.  I want him to be a superstar baseball player.  Well, I really love football, but it is so dangerous.  Baseball seems really slow and non-threatening to his life long brain function.

Anywho, I know you just can’t wait to see the videos so here:

First Field Trip!

>

Evan had his first field trip to the Little Rock Zoo.  Sadly, a lot of the kids in his class had never been to the Little Rock Zoo, so they were fired up.  Evan has been every year since his birth, so he was kind of bored.
John David and I got to tag along, so we made it fun.  Here are a few random pictures.

First T Ball Practice!

>Evan is playing T ball for the first time this year and today was his first practice.  I was so nervous.  We have worked with him a little and he can hit the ball pretty good, but he can’t catch the ball to save his life.

He is so shy and he had no clue what he was supposed to do at the beginning, but he loosened up as the hour went on.
There was a parent at the practice before ours that was coaching from the stands.  Every time the child moved in the slightest wrong direction, the dad yelled.  Wow, I stood there and laughed inside my head.  He was overweight and I am sure he is going to live vicariously through his son.  Makes me sad for the child.
Anyway, he had fun and he is excited about going back to practice next week.
