My #kindawesome Experience

A few weeks ago, KIND Healthy Snacks sent me a “good luck” fuel box to use while I am in this cycle of marathon training.

KIND Healthy Snacks #kindawesome Fuel Box

Since I live in rural Arkansas, I have only seen KIND Healthy Snacks on a few shelves.  You guys know how picky I am, so I never bothered to try them.  Big mistake.  These bars are delicious and not full of junk!  My 7 year old can pronounce every single ingredient listed on the back of each bar.  That is important to me.

I used the bars to supplement my homemade fuel during a 12 miler, 16 miler, and trail half marathon.  My delicate stomach experienced zero discomfort and I never felt like I was crashing.  The energy was even and sustained.  That my friends, has allowed KIND to earn a special place alongside my super secret homemade fuel.  Yeah, I have a great recipe, but sometimes, after 20 miles, you just want something different to eat!

I am pretty sure KIND just wanted me to test the bars for my running fuel, but I put them to the ultimate test.  My poor family members have tasted so many nasty  healthy bars and drinks.  They were a little reluctant to try another, but I ended up having to hide my faves from Aaron and the boys.  I got in Aaron’s truck the other day and found 3 empty wrappers in the floor!!!  I also noticed the boys reaching for KIND bars.  The packaging is colorful and cool looking, so it makes perfect sense.

Here are all the flavors I can promise are super tasty: Almond Walnut MacadamiaAlmond Cashew with FlaxPeanut Butter Dark ChocolateDark Chocolate Nuts & Sea Salt, Dark Chocolate Chili Almond, Almond & ApricotPomegranate Blueberry PistachioNut Delight, Maple Glazed Pecan & Sea Salt.  I may have a problem.  I think I have become a KINDaholic…

Who cares if I have to be committed for food addiction, I’m taking as many people in Arkansas with me as I can!

And by the way, KIND didn’t ask me to write this review.  I just really liked the bars and thought I should share.  Make sure you follow KIND Healthy Snacks on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to keep up with all their fun snacks and promotions!

  1. Those look awesome! I think I’ve seen them on the shelves at some stores here (big-city Fayetteville :)) and I could certainly use some fuel for, uh, writing? Will have to check them out.

  2. We avoid gluten in my son’s diet (behavioral, not allergy) so good tasting snack bars are a must – thanks for the review, we’ll definitely try some! They should sponsor some of the awesome local athletic events in Arkansas! The Chile Pepper Race and Race for the Cure, there are bike races… So many options. 🙂

Your son will love them! The wrappers are very clear about which ones are gluten free, so it will be easy to pick out a few to try.

  3. I LOVE Kind bars! We have them pretty available at grocery stores in central Arkansas. They’re one of the only gluten free bars, and they’re DELISH! They’re the only GF food available at Starbucks, too.

    • Ashley Ederington says:

I try to hit up Central Arkansas stores while in town, but down here we have slim pickings 🙁

We just got a Starbucks on campus at HSU, so I’ll walk over there to see if they carry KIND!

  4. Thanks for posting this! My husband pointed out some KIND bars when we were at the Harps store in Bald Knob, Arkansas the other day. I didn’t buy any because I too have tried a lot of yucky ones before. I’m gonna add them to my list an pick some up when I shop on Monday. Thanks for the recommendation!

  5. Oooh, I love anything with chocolate and sea salt. And there’s a maple glazed one with sea salt also?? Mmmmmm! I’m a little bit afraid of the chili one, yet also very curious. 🙂 I’ll be looking for them here in AR’s River Valley area!

    • Ashley Ederington says:

Lol, I was concerned about the chili one too, but it is pretty good! Not hot, but makes your mouth tingle and made me giggle.

  6. Dude!
#1 you’re my inspiration and #kindawesome. I finished a 10k since the last time we spoke and when I finished I thought, “well dang it – Ashley was right. I can do this and I do enjoy it.”
#2 this morning I had an almond and apricot kind bar but my favorite is the blueberry pistachio. They are #kindawesome
#3 now that I moved to the thriving metropolis that is NWA I have a gas station within a three minute drive (i.e. 30 minute run) that sales kind bars. It’s #kindawesome to live up here. Just saying 🙂
    Happy weekend.

This makes me sooooo happy! I am so glad you are finding joy in running! Most people give up before they reach the awesome fun parts! Keep running!!!!!

  7. You had me at “good for a delicate stomach”! My crazy stomach requires attention to diet before running. I will definitely give KIND bars a try…hope I can find them here in SW Arkansas! Otherwise, you may have to share your secret homemade fuel recipe!!

  8. If my running queen friend Ashley recommends them, then I will try them. Thanks for the recommendation, almond and apricot sounds DELICIOUS!

  9. Heck yes! I love Kind bars. So awesome that they sent you some. Over here in tiny Elkins, Ark. you can find about 4-5 flavors in the “health food” section of the local grocery store. Sam’s Club has a three flavor pack. With all the interest in half marathons and running up here, it would seem like they would really be popular so I hope they bring more! Perfectly natural food for the Natural State!

What do you think?
