Who’s Watching You?

Over the last few days, I have been doing a plyometric workout video.  It is a simple video, it lasts 33 minutes and it is as hard as you make it.  I will blog about it later, but I wanted to tell you about something that happened during the workout.

In the middle of the ab portion, I relaxed down on the floor.  My abs were burning and I thought I couldn’t go on.  I was in my bedroom.  I thought I was alone.  I hadn’t noticed John David standing in the hall watching.  When I stopped to rest, John David yelled: “Mommy! Don’t stop! You can do it!”

It kind of startled me, but I knew I had to keep going.  He came in the bedroom with me and mimicked my moves for the rest of the video.

I suppose the boys watch me more than I realize.  That kind of scares me and makes me happy at the same time.  I hope I am a good example for them.  I don’t want them to grow up and just think Mommy wanted to be skinny.  I want them to remember that their Mommy doesn’t give up.  When their life gets hard, I want them to keep going and not give up.  I want them to grow up and find a wife that doesn’t give up.  My Mom was such an awesome example for me and a lot of the time, I don’t feel like I will ever measure up to her.  Ok, my Mom wasn’t perfect, but she was perfect for me.  All that being said, I never want the boys to watch me quit something just because I am tired or not mentally strong enough.

John David, you’re right.  Mommy can do it.  Mommy can do anything she puts her mind to.  Thank you for reminding me.

In other random John David cuteness, he calls almonds, crumbs.  It took me forever to figure out what he was wanting for a snack today!

What do you think?
