Well, it wouldn’t be one of my trail races without a foggy picture to start the day. I think Lake DeGray is out there somewhere, but I am not totally sure.
We met at the Iron Mountain Trail Head to pick up our packets and chat before taking off.
I started talking to the race director and found out that the race course was the same exact trail I always run with Zabrina, so I was pretty stoked. We were even going to tackle it in the easy direction, which took us down the big hill instead of running up the switch backs.
As always Arkansas Outside was there to take some great pictures.
The encouraging cow bell was awesome. Really pushed me the last quarter mile.
I was able to manage a 13th overall finish, 2nd in the women, and 1st in my age group.
I got a gold medal! Yippee! Seriously, look at my little clothing ensemble. Awesome. You can also see how hard it was actually raining in the background. Glad it was time to head to the house and take a nap.
Great job! So glad the downpour held off till the end of the race.
