Let me give you a little personal motivation today. I recently lost 50 pounds. Yeah, fifty. You read that right.
We went on a horse ride one day and I asked Aaron to take my picture. This is what I saw:
I was utterly disgusted. I was always the person behind the camera and I had fooled myself into believing I was still thin. Those jeans are a size 16. I had to do something. I was cranky.
I will admit that when I started, I didn’t lose weight the right way. I dropped 40 pounds very quickly taking Adipex. As soon as I quit taking the medication, I gained 25 pounds right back. Big mistake and I was still cranky.
I realized there was no magic pill. There is no easy road. I had to work, so I started running and counting calories. I absolutely hated it at first. I despised that Couch to 5k guy. At some points I thought I might die, but I didn’t. I just got skinny.
It took a little over a year, but this is what I look like now:
I am a size 4 now. Here is the difference in how those jeans fit:
Here are my old jeans (16) with my new jeans (4) on top:
Last Saturday I ran 10 miles and next month I will complete my first half marathon on my 31st birthday. I love running now, it keeps me from going totally crazy. It also allows me to drink wine every once in a while and not feel guilty.
When I started, I didn’t think I would be able to lose 50 pounds, but as I got stronger physically and emotionally, I knew I would finish. It is very true, you can do whatever you want. If you can control your mind, you can control your body.
By the way:
THat is awesome!! i also wanna lose at least 50 pounds..so just good ol running works? I’ll try that!!
