Week 2 Recap {Half Marathon Training}

Week 1 Recap

Week 2 wasn’t bad.  The plan only increases by a mile each week and I got to do some awesome speed work on Wednesday, which added a little excitement.

Monday
3 mile easy run at 11:05 minutes/mile.  I actually ran 10:14 minutes/mile and finished in 30:50.

Wednesday
5 miles of speed work.  1 mile warm up, 2 x 1600 at 8:56 minutes/mile with 800 jogs in between, and 1 mile cool down.  I want to really work hard on speed days, so I did this on the dread mill to ensure I couldn’t slack off on the fast parts.  It felt good. I finished in 50:14.

Thursday
2 mile easy run at 11:05 minutes/mile.  I had to run this on the dread mill because I didn’t want to wake up early, so I actually ran the correct pace and finished in 22:00.

Saturday
7 mile long run at 11:05 minutes/mile.  I did something kind of stupid.  We were camping at the lake with Aaron’s family so I just ran from the campsite.  There were a lot of hills. See:

Yeah, the 7 miles took me 1:19:01, which is an average pace of 11:17 minutes/mile.  Also, my right soleus muscle is sore.  Awesome lesson learned.

Week 2 is history! Only 14 weeks to go!
